Contributor Guidelines
Give Your Students a Stronger Start
These guidelines apply to everyone who mentors, publishes, or builds a public profile on ExpertCareerGuide.com, whether you’re an educator, industry professional, expert, or author. They exist to keep the platform trustworthy for the students and professionals who rely on it.
1. Who This Applies To
These guidelines apply to all contributors, regardless of how you participate:
If you participate in more than one way, every section below applies to all of it.
2. Content Standards
Originality. Everything you publish or present must be your own work, or work you have the rights to share. Do not submit content copied or closely paraphrased from another source without proper attribution and permission.
Accuracy. Represent facts, data, and your own credentials honestly. If you’re citing research, statistics, or outside sources, cite them accurately and avoid overstating what they show.
Academic honesty. Educators and any contributor referencing research or scholarly material are expected to follow standard academic honesty practices: proper citation, no fabricated data, and clear distinction between established research and personal opinion.
AI-assisted drafting. AI tools may assist with drafting, editing, or organizing your work. The ideas, arguments, and expertise must be genuinely your own. Submitting AI-generated content presented as original expert insight, without your own substantive input, is not allowed.
3. Professional and Ethical Conduct
No conflicts of interest. Disclose any financial or professional relationship that could affect the objectivity of your content or advice (for example, promoting a specific product or employer without disclosure).
No self-promotional spam. Contributions should provide genuine value to the reader or mentee. Using the platform primarily to advertise your own business, services, or other platforms outside the terms of your contributor agreement is not allowed.
Respectful conduct. Treat mentees, readers, and fellow contributors with professionalism and respect. Discriminatory, harassing, or abusive conduct of any kind will result in removal from the platform.
4. Responsible Publishing
Scope of advice. Career, academic, and professional guidance is welcome. Content that strays into areas requiring licensed expertise (legal advice, medical advice, financial/investment advice) must include a clear disclaimer and should not present itself as professional counsel in that field.
No harmful or misleading content. Do not publish content that could mislead readers about job opportunities, income potential, credentials, or outcomes (for example, unrealistic salary promises or guaranteed job placement claims).
Currency. Where content concerns job-market data, salary figures, or application processes, keep it reasonably current. ExpertCareerGuide.com may periodically ask contributors to review and update published material.
5. Mentoring and Advisory Standards
Professionalism. Sessions should be conducted with the same professionalism expected of any paid advisory relationship: punctuality, preparation, and a focus on the mentee’s actual needs.
Confidentiality. Information shared by a mentee during a session is confidential and should not be disclosed or used outside that relationship without their consent.
No guarantees. Do not promise specific outcomes (a guaranteed job, a guaranteed admission, a guaranteed raise) as a condition of a session or mentoring relationship.
Boundaries. Sessions should stay within the stated scope of the service booked. If a mentee’s needs fall outside your expertise, refer them elsewhere rather than advising outside your competence.
6. Platform Integrity
Book and transact through the platform. Sessions, publishing arrangements, and payments should be conducted through ExpertCareerGuide.com. Arranging to take a mentee or buyer off-platform to avoid platform fees undermines the program for everyone and may result in removal.
Accurate profile information. Your public profile (credentials, experience, areas of expertise) must be accurate and verifiable. Misrepresenting your background is grounds for removal.
7. Intellectual Property and Ownership
Contributors keep the rights to their original works and manuscripts. By publishing on ExpertCareerGuide.com, you grant the platform a non-exclusive license to display, promote, and sell your work on the platform under the terms of your contributor agreement. You remain free to publish your work elsewhere, unless otherwise agreed in writing for a specific project.
Revenue share. Active contributors earn 70% of the sale price on their published work. If a contributor leaves the platform, their work may remain published, continuing to earn the contributor 50% of the sale price, reflecting ExpertCareerGuide.com’s ongoing responsibility for its promotion and maintenance.
See Your Work Stays Yours for a plain-language summary of this principle.
8. Review and Moderation
All submitted content is reviewed before publishing. ExpertCareerGuide.com may request edits, decline a submission, or remove published content that violates these guidelines. Reviews focus on accuracy, originality, and adherence to these standards, not on differences of professional opinion.
9. Consequences for Violations
Depending on severity, violations of these guidelines may result in:
Serious violations (plagiarism, harassment, fraudulent credentials, circumventing platform payments) may result in immediate removal without prior warning.
10. Updates to These Guidelines
ExpertCareerGuide.com may update these guidelines from time to time. Contributors will be notified of material changes, and continued participation on the platform constitutes acceptance of the current guidelines.
